I just use a label maker to identify what is in each box:

I love the varying colors and graphics......

.......and the plain wood ones are just as interesting.

I collect vintage cigar box labels. I use them to cover smaller boxes and also for layering into artwork. I think I picked up most of them through Silver Crow Creations.

To make smaller storage containers, I start with a small plain box:

I use Liquitex Gloss Medium & Varnish......

......to glue small label pieces to the top of the box (you can substitute Mod Podge):

I wrap a label around the outside to cover all the raw edges and fold the excess into the box:

A finished mini-cigar box.....

....vintage and perfect size for small trinkets!

You never cease to amaze me girl! I just throw my stuff into the nearest box or jar I can find ;)

ReplyDeleteLove how you've used them! My BIL gave me a bunch of cool cigar boxes for Christmas and now I know what to do with them :)
ReplyDeleteI love this Ashley! I am a big fan of cigar boxes as well. My father in law got me a cigar box bag when he went on a trip to Italy and I use it as a cash box when I go to craft shows!

Amazing! I just found your site today and I love it. This article about the cigar boxes is extremely useful to me, since my husband smokes cigars (ick) and now I can do something besides growl about it! Something good is going to come from his nasty habit :-)
