Collecting Vintage Charms and Trinkets - Charm Giveaway I

I collect trinkets. Lots of them. I collect religious medals, vintage charms, old necklace charms and just about anything that can hang from a bracelet or necklace. Sometimes I combine them on necklaces, some make great little gift toppers (I gave my sister-in-law a vintage church charm that opened up to reveal a bride and groom when she got married), and many just sit in a box waiting to be sifted through. I've decided to pull a few adorable charms out for some giveaways over the next few weeks. See the end of this post on how to enter!

Below are some of my favorite vintage charms. It is hard to find charms like these now with the moving parts. They just don't make things like they used to!

Little gas tank with moving heart gauge

Slot machine with colorful moving wheel inside

Camera that opens with film image inside

The next three charms are from my grandmother's bracelet from the 40's:

Baby carriage with moving canopy

Cigarette lighter with moving top

Can you guess what the above charm is?

Leave me a comment with your guess and if you collect anything!
If you are the first to guess correctly I'll put 10 extra entries in for you for the drawing.
Extra entry for all followers....just leave a comment letting me know!

Enter before this Tuesday, May 19th at midnight (eastern time). I'll announce the randomly generated winner on Wednesday. US and Canada shipping only.

The winner gets the cute little charms shown below!

Cold faucet knob
Gumball machine
Prayer box (it opens so you can put a little prayer in it!)

  1. It's a pizza cutter. I love vintage charms and the camera is adorable. Of course, they don't make them like that any more!

  2. Looks like a pizza cutter/pastry brush combo. Very convenient, too!

  4. I agree it looks like a pastry brush pizza cutter combo. As for what I collect - I collect a lot of things: vintage 40's & 50's childrens books, vintage fisher price toys, a lot of craft supplies and punches - just to name a few.

  5. I don't want to win anything, but I do want to guess! :) Though I have no idea I'm going to guess a boot cleaner and brush.
BTW, the camera one is unbelievable!!! :)

  7. Okay... is it some sort of tool that was used for hanging wallpaper?

  8. Perhaps a very old-fashioned toothbrush and flossing system... ouch!

  10. Was this used for picking the crud out of horses hooves?

  11. Perhaps an old tool used to clean out a gun.

The only collection I have is porcelain dolls my grandmother gave to me through out my childhood.

  12. I have totally seen one of those before! It's an artist's tool. The round part is an eraser and the brush part is for brushing off all the little eraser shavings from your drawing without smudging the lead. My dad is a closet pencil sketcher...he always had one of these on his desk....I hope I'm right! (PS. I follow you here and on Twitter)

The pizza cutter/toothbrush made me laugh!

I collect teacups (my choice) and pot holders (started as a joke by my mom...but it caught on and now my husband and siblings think it is hilarious to gift me one!)

  13. It looks like a tool to cut dough, pasta or bread, and then baste it with the brush end.

  14. Updated answer....is that allowed? Totally just called my dad and asked him what it was called. He said it's actually a Typewriter Eraser used to erase mistakes and then flick the dust from your typewriter keys.

SERIOUSLY VINTAGE! Good thing I have a Vintage Dad to help me out :)

  15. It looks like a brush to clean something?!

I don't collect anything, but I used to collect dinosaur figurines when I was a kid.

  16. Ir is a typewriter eraser, erase with the wheel and brush the crumbs away with the brush. I used them, guess I am vintage, too.
