Here is one of Sienna's new fall outfits I made this weekend. We love owls.
Sometimes I buy clothing just to reuse the fabric.....that was the case with this pajama set I found at Target. I saw the owls and knew immediately that I wanted to cut them out and use them as appliques. They are HUGE owls which is hard to find.....each is around 5" tall.
I used one owl for the shirt and stitched around the edges......
....and two owls for the pant with a polka dot corduroy layer in between. One owl is on the side of the leg.....
......and one on the seat of the pants.
I used Pink Fig's Bella Pant pattern for the corduroy pants.
I used my detail scissors to cut out the rest of the owls that I didn't use. And I am offering them in sets of three in my Lil Blue Boo etsy store if anyone is interested (and can't find the pajama set at your local Target). I applied fusible web to the backs of them so that they are iron-on ready. Each set is different.
Update: I sold out...I'll try to get more cut today and relisted. You can also email me if you are interested and I'll let you know when I am getting ready to list or even reserve you a set. Thanks!
Your a rockstar!!! That is adorable :)
ReplyDeleteLOVE! Funny cause I am doing on owl post tomorrow. One (meaning me) can never get enough owls.
ReplyDeleteCute! I'm obsessed with mermaids right now! OK, so I LOVE appliques but I'm too intimidated to try them. If I was sewing it onto a flat piece of fabric that's one thing, but how do you do it on a shirt or pants like you did? I guess I'll just have to practice. Oh and I'm terrible at the zig zag stitch, LOL! I figured that out the other day...
ReplyDeleteThis is so cute! I have an aunt who is an owl collector/fanatic. Maybe I could do an adult version for her...
ReplyDeleteWow--thank you so much for this! I got these same jammies from Target for $4. I love them, but my hubby thinks they're too old lady-ish...so off to cut some owls out and make a new outift for my baby girl. You literally read my craft-pondering mind!
ReplyDeleteIt's too cute. What a good mommy you are :)
ReplyDeleteyou are my idol :-)
ReplyDeleteAmen Lisa! :)
ReplyDeleteOMG Ashley!! I just bought those pants at Target on clearance to make something out of it, LOL. Now Im inspired ;) Sienna is going to look beautiful in that outfit!!

ReplyDeleteWow-how adorable!! You have the best and most creative ideas. She's going to look so cute!
ReplyDeleteI love it!!! I never thought to buy clothes for that reason. My new obsession with sewing is going to cost me a fortune since I only have a few things on hand. lol
ReplyDeleteI want you to make my fall wardrobe!

ReplyDeleteThe outfit is darling! Please tell me how you find time to go to Target when you create all that out-of-this-world-unbelievably CUTE stuff?!
ReplyDeleteI'm SO green-with-envy&awe-but-totally-appreciate-your-talent jealous over here!
What a cute outfit. Love the owls. Creativity at its best!
ReplyDeleteLove the owls!!!
ReplyDeleteAdorable! We love owls, too. Reminds me of my Granny.
ReplyDeleteI went to Target this morning to find those pj's, but I didn't have any luck. Your outfit is too cute.
ReplyDeleteThey do have the pajama sets on Target.com, but not at clearance prices. The pajama set that has owl pants AND an owl top was $24.99. (I made sure to buy XXXL so I'd have more material to work with!)
ReplyDeleteI bought the XXXL sizes off the rack! LOL.
ReplyDeleteAs a matter of fact, I would like the ruffle around the ankle pants. I think they would make my butt look smaller ;)
ReplyDeleteXOXO
How do you get the courage to cut up those totally cut Pj's ?
ReplyDeleteI can barely stand to cut my daughter's stained clothes to eventually make a memory quilt out of..
I absolutely love your outfit you made with the owls.. I make ruffle pants, but never thought of trying to find some corduroy for fall pants.
Your site inspires and brings out some of my own creativity !
Totally CUTE!!! I've definitely got my eyes open at all times -- you just never know when that great fabric find is going to be around the corner!! HOOT HOOT for owls!! CHEERS!
ReplyDeleteSo very cute.
ReplyDeleteI love that peasant dress you keep making. So much so I tried to recreate it for myself. Thanks for continually inspiring me!
Those are soooo stinkin' cute!
ReplyDeleteWhat an adorable outfit. I'll have to check my Target next time I'm in town.
ReplyDeleteWhat a find!!!I love those sweet birds!
ReplyDeletethat is the cutest ever!!!!!!
ReplyDeleteSo cute! We love owls too! Leila and I wore the matching Nick and Nora (winter) owl pj's from Target on Christmas morning, and my baby girl on the way's room is going to be done in the PBK "Brooke" collection, which is all owls!
ReplyDeleteI LOVE those owls!!! I wish I had seen this earlier I certainly would have bought them. I wouldn't have been able to sew up an outfit like you but I surely could have found a use for them!!
