......I can't even sing it because my voice will crack. Sometimes listening to it I get that feeling like my chest is being crushed. When the "live" version plays from iTunes some mornings Sienna will look up at me and say "are you okay Mommy?"
Michael W. Smith's "Awesome God" from the album Worship
It was released on September 11, 2001.
I know that song! That's a great album :o) Don't you love songs that make you choke up like that?
ReplyDeleteL-O-V-E that song!!! I was listening to Jennifer Knapp ( I don't know if you know who she is, but...) on the way to carpool this morning and got so teary, too on this one song I love. My kids say the exact same thing!
ReplyDeleteI completely understand. I get that way with certain songs that really bring an emotionally charged situation to the moment. Sing through choked tears is a heavy experience indeed!
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing! I love songs that mean something and stir emotion.
ReplyDeleteThose moments are be best. God is just amazing, isn't He?
ReplyDeleteI haven't heard this song. I'll have to check it out. The video for the Ryan Adams song "New York" was filmed on Sept. 10, 2001. Funny how some things happen...
ReplyDeleteThanks for posting this. Yours was one of the very few 9/11 posts that I saw today.
Oh I so get that. I think it's born out of this overwhelming thankfulness for Jesus grace that included us. Out of that thankfulness praise becomes volcanic. Thank you for sharing that.

Isn't God's plan amazing? He did this with this song, and then Casting Crowns' "Praise You in this Storm" was released the day after Katrina hit.
ReplyDeletei know that song... great song. I never knew that's when it was released though, thanks for sharing.
