Fabric Shopping with a 2-Year-Old......

......equals crazy anxiety. Sienna had her first dentist appointment this morning.....then I thought it would be "fun" to go browse fabrics at Monica's Quilt and Bead since we were already in that part of town.  I got some cute fabrics but I had no clue what I had bought until I got home since I was ALL over the store grabbing random bolts as I chased Sienna down.

My favorite luxury? Browsing a fabric store for hours by myself. But this trip I just wanted to get out of there before Sienna scattered tiny "seed" beads everywhere...she kept running over to the bead side and grabbing the little bead tubes. The ladies were really nice and kept trying to engage Sienna in conversation....and my lovely 2-year-old would yell "NO" and run the other direction. I'm pooped now.

My favorite purchase of the day? This cute fabric by Lecien: Caramel Town - Happy Chihuahuas.  Wouldn't this make a cute child's apron?

I have a great idea: fabric and craft stores should have a "coat-check" for children! I'd pay 5 bucks for that!

  1. That's my favorite luxury too. I am always shocked how many hours I can spend at a fabric store!
Hmm a daycare center in a fabric store, that's a brilliant idea. When are you opening it? ;-)
    Love the new fabrics.

  2. I looooove that store!!! I haven't dared to take my girl in there. I'm sure we'd have the same experience you did! Adorable fabric!

  3. Seriously. I just got back from the fabric store with my 18 month old. It's almost a worthless trip if I have to keep going back for forgotten items because I was rushed!

If they also had a happy hour at the fabric store I'd be set.

  4. We actually have a sweet little quilt shop downtown - that sells lots of great stuff, including Amy Butler, which makes me melt - that has a children's play area in the back with toys, books, and a tv/vcr combo with a whole shelf full of vhs movies. And I'm headed there tomorrow morning - I can't wait!

Love what you picked up today, by the way.

  5. I just had to comment. Know that I feel your pain. I am apparently a slow learner, because not once but TWICE in the past week I went to the fabric store... with my 6yr old, 4yr old and 2 yr old. Foolish I am.
I have pretty fabric, that matches nothing else I own... which means another trip to the fabric store. I WILL be going ALONE.

At least you were able to come home with some fun stuff! :) I look forward to seeing what you do with it.

  6. Heck yeah, I'd pay for that service too. They need to have a playland like McDonalds or something. My almost 2 year old loves to look at fabric with me, but never the fabric I want to.

You got some great fabric in spite of all the drama. I can't wait to see the apron ;)

  7. I would be all over that service... And maybe a sports room for my hubby. Then going to the fabric store would be a joy to the whole family!

  8. I totally can relate...oh my. I seem to always forget how horrible it is to shop for fabric with a 2 year old and attempt to do it over and over again every few weeks and for some reason it must just be such a bad experience my mind just erases it...kind of like childbirth..haha. Hopefully it get's better as they get holder :)

  9. LOL .. I can totally relate. I have my own crazy 2year old. The worst is when she finds a fabric she won't LET GO OF and I'm forced to buy some cheesy novelty fabric because she LOVES it. Ergghhh!
