OCD, my Coke Rewards, and I am SOOO NOT perfect.....

For example, today I was working on the cutest project and THEN I found an ant crawling around....THEN I found some juice spots on the floor.....THEN I remembered I missed my workout this morning to take the dog to the vet. So time stopped, I couldn't function anymore. So for the last two hours I have been mopping, putting everything in its place, labeling some stuff that needed labeling, cleaning toilets and I won't be able to get back to normal until the house is spotless and perfect, I am showered, finally eat some lunch and then my daughter will wake up from her nap. So....my cute little project tutorial that I was going to post will have to wait. (By the way, if you don't have a Magnet mop, you are missing out....I actually enjoy mopping.)

I thought I'd share this so I don't give a false impression. Yes, I get a ton accomplished during the day, but some of it is out of necessity to keep my life in order. I have some attention issues and I have very obsessive tendencies. It drives people nuts when I am adjusting the volume on the TV and I can't stop until it is on an even number or on a multiple of 5. Mathematics and numbers rule many parts of my life. I clip coupons and sometimes spend 2 hours at the grocery store making sure I get every discount I can....then I keep a spreadsheet and do analysis on it. Then other days I won't even think about coupons. AND.....when I mop the floor, I mop in a precise pattern of "quadrants" ;)

But every so often I'll amaze myself with the details. I started collecting my coke rewards a few months back. So here is my question, which is worse:

that I have enough magazine subscriptions to supply a doctor's office
OR
that I drink enough diet coke to renew all of these magazine subscriptions with Coke rewards?

  1. 1. It's your imperfections that make you 'perfect' :)
    2. I am going to shop for a magnet mop.
    3. I only set my alarm clock to odd numbers or numbers that others would not set it to if it is even (ie: 6:42 or 6:41 but never 6:40 or 6:45)
    4. I refuse to go to bed if there is even a single dish in the sink.
    5. you are not alone. :)

  2. I never get anything done during the day. :) I have to have my sheets perfectly straight when I go to bed, if there is one little wrinkle I can't sleep. That's after I check all of the locks twice before going to bed. Maybe I should start drinking diet coke! I need more magazines!

  3. I'm glad I'm not the only one who feels like she's living in an "If You Give A Mouse a Cookie" book! One thing always leads to another and by the time I'm done, I can't even remember where I started some days! :)

  4. I only mop in the direction of the wood on my floor. There's nothing wrong with mopping precisely. :)

I use my Coke rewards for coupons to buy more Coke. Those and the Pampers points take over my life!

  5. Geez...I thought I had obsessive tendencies! You are way too funny! Unfortunately none of my obsessive tendencies result in a clean and well organized house. In fact, most of my obsession revolve around crafting which results in total neglect of all other aspects of my life, including my housekeeping!:)

  6. My first thought is "what the heck is coke rewards" and why don't I collect them?

My second thought is "there's a pill for that". In fact, I can send you some of mine :)

    XOXO-

  8. I must know....what is a magnet mop? How can I be missing out on something I have to use almost everyday!!! Sounds interesting!!

I never collect enough coke rewards....or they expire!

  9. I'm completely the opposite - I'm an idiot at Math and I procrastinate about cleaning all the time! I try to get through the grocery store as quickly as I can - and that's without coupons. My Mother-in-law can spend hours (I'm talking 6,8, 9, 10 hours!) making a grocery bill - it's 'cause she cuts out every coupon in existence! LoL! But she does find some awesome deals!

BTW, I want that Magnet Mop. Thanks for the link, according to their site, our local Bed, Bath and Beyond has them! Time to do some shopping!

  11. I also have to keep the volume on an even number or multiple of 5 - though I prefer a multiple of 5...I wish they didn't even have numbers so I could just watch at an enjoyable volume - ANNOYING!

  12. You just described me in a nutshell with the obsessive tendencies. Um, yeah...mopping quadrants? SO me! TV volume has to be on an even number? Me! Now the real question is: Do you know the exact number of stairs in your entire house? at your church? at the doctor's office? yikes, I am terrible and weird ;) I love your blog, just found it today!

  13. I thought I was the only crazy one with the whole volume thing on the TV. I agree with Heather... why does it have to be numbered??!!

  14. I just re-read this, your not the only one! I do OCD things too

1-Things have to be even, evenly lined up, even numbers, even heights (an so on)
2- All Labels must face me in the cabinets, and I won't bore/scare you with how that looks)
3- My closet and the kids closest are in color order, I tired with my husband's but I end up driving my self nuts b/c he thinks its fun to put things out of order.
4- And your not alone with messing with the volume!
